St. Thomas, The Apostle Syro Malabar Parish, Brisbane South, established in May 2015 under the Syro Malabar Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle, Melbourne. Currently, the parish has a membership of 300 plus families migrated from Kerala, India and they are residing in and around Brisbane South. Our parish is a congregation of a thousand members including adults, youths and children. In 2017, the parish has purchased a property with a church close to Browns Plains Queensland (108-112 Middle Rd. Hillcrest), which will help a growing community like us to conduct various cultural and religious programs. We are also planning to develop the property as a hub for spiritual and charitable activities in the future.
Last year we conducted SANTHOM Multicultural Festival on 26th May 2018 at the St Thomas the Apostle Syro Malabar Catholic Church property. It was a great event with a massive number of people participating in it. We are planning to host our Second SANTHOM Multi-Cultural Dance and Food Festival this year on the 25th of May 2019 from 9am to 7:30pm. This event is supported by Queensland government and Logan city council. The entry will be free of cost. We expect approximately 4000 people to come and enjoy this Multi-Cultural event. The celebrations will include dance and other cultural performances from different ethnicities like Chinese, African, Italian, Greek, Aboriginals, Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Australian and various communities of India.
